Bike refurbishment and other specialist services.

An RPM cycle lives in a harsh environment of sweat and abuse. Gym members will expect it to be in pristine condition but have no interest in wiping it down after a class; the future does not look good- rust, seized handlebars and seats.

As you would expect The Cycle Team has the solution- exchange bikes. We can replace your fleet with completely reconditioned bikes at a fraction of the cost of new ones. Not only will it cost less but all our bikes will be better than new- we have serviced thousands of spin bikes and know what the common failings are.

You can also take advantage of this scheme to replace broken bikes. It doesn’t matter if the bike has snapped off parts or stripped threads, don’t throw it away. We will still accept it as a service exchange saving you money.

Call out fees are standard practice in the maintainence industry. Not in The Cycle Team. If one bike breaks, there is high probability that more failures are about to occur; all the bikes are used at the same time so if one part has worn out/failed others won’t be far behind. We could repair the one bike and leave the client with an appearence fee larger than the repair cost (as most do). We feel thare is a fairer way. By giving every bike in the RPM studio a safety check while on site we can,

• ensure that another failure is not about occur.
• save our client money by catching a fault before something breaks.
• prevent the inconvenience and loss of revenue that would occur if another bike were to break in a few days time.
• prevent anyone from being injured by a faulty bike.
• justify our travelling time without a call out fee.

Safety Check / Basic Service

• ensure that all fasteners are tightened correctly
• ensure that resistance and emergancy brakes operate correctly
• check highly stressed parts (e.g. cranks) for cracks or other damage*
• test ride bike to ensure that it is both smooth running and no parts of the drive train are bent
*note that if the bikes are not kept clean it will not be possible to spot small stress cracks

General service
all that is done in the basic service, plus

• clean the bike thoroughly- this will help prevent corrosion damage, seizure of seats/bars and generally increase the life of the bike.
• grease threaded adjusters to prevent seizure.
• loctite certain threaded parts to prevent accidental loosening
• service/replace bearings
• adjust chain tension
• replace any worn parts.

Full Service

We will strip the bike down to compents parts, clean them all before re-assembling it with far more care than when it was first built. Obviously any part showing signs of wear will be replaced.
If your bikes have many mechanical problems but are corrosion free this service will make them better than new.

Cleaning contract

Keeping your spin bikes clean is the best value way to look after a large investment.
